It’s great to have all the new snow! It provides a welcome change of scenery and activity out on the playground, even if it’s more of a challenge just to move around in the deep stuff out there. Children have made a sliding area and were pretending to be penguins at recess yesterday. Today we’ll remake the snow tunnels that got swept away by the snowplow recently. And we’ll try out Ben’s new Flexible Flyer that he brought from home!
I hope you all had a nice day off from school on Monday for Martin Luther King’s birthday, AND another day home due to the snowstorm on Tuesday! ‘Tis the season for school closings… I hope that the phone tree is working for everyone – please let me know if things need to be fixed or changed in that regard.
We are well into our self-portrait project, and they are fabulous! We’ll mount them (probably on the ceiling) as they are completed, so be on the lookout for some colorful children smiling down on us from above! Also, we have switched our French and Library specials – French is now on Thursday and Ponnie comes on Wednesdays.
Here’s a reminder that next Friday (January 28) is our January Parent-Teacher Conference day (no school that day). Please see or call Tammy at the main office to sign up for a conference time slot (from 11:00 to 7:00 p.m.). These conferences are brief but valuable occasions to check in about how things are going regarding your child’s progress. Please come prepared with any questions, concerns, or comments that you’d like to share. I look forward to seeing you on Friday, and the chance to talk more leisurely about our goings-on here at the preschool!
On Thursday, February 3rd, the Library will celebrate its 50th birthday! Ponnie has sent home with each child an announcement with some information on it about the birthday celebration we have each year for the library. Let me know if you are missing this announcement (it should be in the cubbies).
On this coming Sunday, January 23, Green Mountain Orchards and West Hill Shop are holding a community-wide cross country ski day, on groomed trails at the Orchard, for free (providing weather cooperates)! The event is from 9:00 to 3:00. Rentals are free, too (from 9:30 – 12:00 and 12:30 to 3:00) but reservations must be made in advance (call West Hill at 387-5718).
We are pleased to have Aiden Clark join us in the preschool! He will start officially in February, and will be coming Thursdays and Fridays. Please join me in welcoming Aiden and his parents Marie and Mark when you see them!
Natalie celebrates her 4th birthday on Sunday! We’ll make her treat of choice – blueberry muffins! – on Monday of next week. Happy Birthday, Natalie!
Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm!
