Parent Letter 10/27/10

With Halloween just a few days away, our focus is clearly on the power and pleasures of serious make believe -some with a spooky bent, and some decidedly not. We carved the lovely pumpkin that Katherine donated, choosing to make it double sided so that it now features both a silly face and a scary one. We light it at candle circle time and sing our Jack-o'lantern song. We are also working on our paper jack-o'-lanterns as well, some of which are hanging up in the room presently.

On Friday, we will have a Halloween get together with the kindergartners. It will be a low-key affair, with some healthy homemade snacks and cider and the chance to show off costumes. All kids are welcome and may bring in costumes, but I recommend that they change into them here and wear them for just a short while, rather than to wear them to school that day.
